I’m interested in counselling with you. How do I book a session?
Contact me by email or by text giving the best means of contacting you.
I usually reply within 48 hours, offering an appointment time. I can provide further directions once the date and time of first appointment has been arranged.

What happens in the first session?
This is a mutual assessment time, for you to check me out and for me to assess if I am able to help or if signposting you to another service or resource would be the best thing for you.
I will explain my agreement and if you are happy with this we will both sign and each keep a copy to ensure we are clear in how we can work together. A GDPR consent form (paper or digital) will also need signed to allow me to keep your details on file.

What about online counselling/distance therapy? Does it work?
For some people distance therapy is a convenient solution if there are for example, logistical problems with travel, childcare and mobility. Some find they prefer the flexibility of online counselling. Research has shown that this is an effective means of counselling, suitable for many.
I offer online counselling using Zoom platform. I am willing to use others which also provide security and connection! My online agreement, setting out helpful boundaries for our work together, is signed by both of us at the beginning of counselling.

How many sessions do I need?
This depends on the nature of your difficulties, if this is a good time for you to give to this personal work, and what you hope to gain from the counselling.
Usually a person plans on meeting weekly or fortnightly for 4-6 sessions, then reviewing if they want to do more, or pause or stop at this point.
It is helpful for me to know when you wish to stop, rather than simply not appearing at an appointment. We will discuss options for ending counselling well.

When do sessions take place?
At present I work Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There are a few evening appointments available. Last appointment finishes at 8.30pm.
Where do face to face sessions take place?
I have a dedicated ground floor room with its own private entrance in a lovely rural location between Thursby and Wigton.
Unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to this room. Toilet facilities are available in a separate building nearby. |
